Private Sessions are the most effective and time-efficient way to build a yoga practice that works for your body and your life. Wether you are looking to increase mobility, improve performance, recover from injury or illness, or live long and strong into old age, Yoga is an evidence based ancient movement practice that enhances overall well being. Benefits of a regular yoga practice include increased active mobility throughout the body, improvement in virtually all health markers (i.e. lowered blood pressure, decreased arterial age, etc.), stress reduction, tension relief - both physical and mental, and a pervading sense of calm and well being.
My approach to instruction and coaching within the yogic system includes the many lineages and styles of yoga I have studied, practiced and taught over the years. Each style has a unique things to offer and informs one another, and more often than not an individualized practice will include several of the following.
Restorative Yoga is a slow and gentle practice that encourages down regulation of the nervous system and brings the body into a sate of rest, digest and recovery. Through the generous use of props and postures held for several minutes, the practitioner is able to progressively release tension throughout the body and mind
Hatha Yoga ranges from gentle to vigorous and involves spending enough time in each asana (physical yogic posture) to refine alignment, breath, and one's relationship to sensation. It is a physical process aimed at liberating and regulating the vital life force.
Vinyasa Yoga is a rhythmic practice of moving through asanas at a rate of one breath per movement. Special attention is paid to refining the transitions between postures developing a sense of flow that is aligned with the unique rhythm of one's breath.
Power Yoga is similar to Vinyasa in it's emphasis on flowing from one posture to the next. Power yoga moves quickly and often involves asanas and other supporting exercises that build strength and endurance throughout the body.
Ashtanga Yoga is a codified series Hatha Yoga that also utilizes the flow principle of vinyasa. Each Ashtanga sequence is dynamic and physically demanding.
Pranayama is the practice of liberating the vital energy of our being through breathwork. Pranayama ranges in level of intensity, and can be used both to gain energy and down regulate, rest, and recover.
Learning the fundamental physical and spiritual concepts of the Yogic system can be incredibly liberating, empowering and inspiring. But it is establishing a daily practice on and off the yoga mat that leads to lasting health, balance, inner peace, and self actualization. Given the demands of our culture, this is where most of struggle - in developing and maintaining a daily practice. Transformational coaching will give you the practical tools and cultivate the necessary mindset to develop your unique yoga practice and integrate the benefits of your practice into every aspect of your life.
